On Sept. 28, 2015, Life Care Center of McMinnville, Oregon, sponsored a golf tournament to raise money for cancer treatment and research.
Held at the Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville, the Barium Cup Golf Classic is the largest annual fundraiser for the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation. Since 2002, the tournament has generated more than $800,000 to benefit the foundation’s patient assistance and education programs.
During the tournament, associates from Life Care Center of McMinnville assisted with golfer registration. As a part of their fifth-year title sponsorship, the facility also entered a team to play in the tournament.
Each year, participants have the opportunity to play and interact with a celebrity golfer. This year’s celebrity was Pat Casey, Oregon State University’s men’s head baseball coach.
“We work closely with our local hospital and the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation,” said Tracy Ell, admissions and marketing director. “It’s wonderful to support a cause that allows local individuals who are diagnosed with cancer to focus on healing, rather than their financial needs.”
The day included 18 holes of golf, dinner and a live sports auction.
This year’s fundraiser raised more than $85,000.
