Resident Timothy Howard in his 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible, with his brother standing

On June 17, 2016, Life Care Center of McMinnville, Oregon, kicked off Father’s Day weekend with a car show and barbecue.

About 30 guests attended, and associates served chili dogs, chips and watermelon, along with soda in old-fashioned glass bottles. Residents took a look at the 15 classic cars on display in the parking lot and voted for Best in Show.

“When the votes were all in, we announced the winner,” said Haylee Yoder, admissions and marketing director. “The winner turned out to be one of our residents!”

The winning 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible had belonged to the mother of resident Timothy Howard and had been passed down to him. His brother drove the vehicle to the car show.

“I was very surprised and excited,” said Howard. “The car has been in my family for many years.”

“It was an excellent turnout and a lot of fun,” said a volunteer. “I have been to the car show for the last three years, and it gets better each year.”
