Life Care Center of McMinnville, Oregon, sponsored the local Turkey Trot 8K/5K run on July 11, 2015, and nine associates from the facility took part in the event.
The Turkey Trot benefits the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation and the McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce. It’s the most popular and longest-running health and fitness event in McMinnville, with more than 500 participants.
As part of the facility’s sponsorship, a team of associates could enter in the race.
“It’s always fun to do outside activities with co-workers,” said Joan Maca, director of nursing, who participated in the race. “It was very nicely organized.”
Tracy Ell, marketing and admissions director, added, “It was really fun to get competitive with our co-workers in a fun and healthy way. It’s fun to see someone running ahead of you and set goals to catch him or her – it makes running much more fun than running alone.”
To help build camaraderie, associates wore matching bright green T-shirts proclaiming, “We ain’t no rest home – we get you movin’!”
This was the facility’s second year to sponsor a team in the race.
