On July 11, 2016, three associates from Life Care Center of McMinnville, Oregon, passed the Wound Treatment Associate exam and became wound care certified.
Amy Asato, director of nursing; Kadie Lee, resident care manager; and Zo Tewksbury, physical therapist, all underwent training in the WTA program, which parent company Life Care Centers of America uses for training associates nationwide in wound care.
“Having the knowledge to accurately diagnose wounds, and understanding proper treatment plans to assist with wound healing, will increase our success rate tremendously,” said Lee.
The three associates did their training online over the course of three months. WTA covers how to identify and treat a variety of wounds, from pressure sores to diabetic ulcers to surgical wounds.
